Announcement from John Cruz

My friends, neighbors, and supporters,

As you may know, Mount Clemens Community Schools Board of Education Trustee Joseph Rheker III has been called into active duty. He will go from serving our local community as a leader on the board to serving in the United States overseas in Afghanistan. I wish Joe the best of luck and a safe and speedy tour ending right back here in Mount Clemens.

Due to the immediate vacancy of the position, there will be an appointment process to be made by the board of education. Many people have encouraged me to seek appointment, and I have given it great consideration, weighing the pros and cons of such a move.

As of today, I am announcing that tomorrow on October 6th, I will file my intent to seek appointment to fill the remainder of Mr. Rheker’s term, which ends next year.

Due to my strong showing in last years election, I feel that I should be the one to be appointed to the empty seat.

The board will have a special meeting to decide who is to fill this position. This meeting will take place on Monday, October 12th 2009 at 6:00pm at Mount Clemens High School. If you would like to attend and show your support, I would greatly appreciate it.

In Liberty,

John C. Cruz
